Re: How to invert an axis?
Sorry it took me a few days to see this! Actually, I think you should be able to use the BasicJoystick sketch. All you need to do is... oh, man! It's been a while; let me look. "Per-axis gain" is I think the way it should be done. Hang on a sec... Okay, okay, wasn't that. Um, this is totally non-obv...

Re: Orbitron not working with Spaceball 4000 FLX
Sorry to have missed this! Yes, you have to reflash it, I'm afraid... the SpaceOrb and SpaceBall use slightly different protocols. it's not really that hard, but you'll have to install the Arduino environment (you'll need 1.0.3 right now... look at http://wiki.thingotron.com/doku.php?id=products:orb...

Re: Orbshield Problem
That's correct--by itself, it should just show up as a USB HID device and "just work" with a SpaceOrb 360; nothing else is needed. The driver and Arduino software are just there to reflash/reprogram the device (for keyboard / mouse mapping or other tricks, or to use other devices like the SpaceBall ...

Re: Agetec Asciiware Sphere 360
nbrophy--EXCELLENT WORK! Ha, that's fantastic! I bet we could manage to make a Leonardo represent that as a HID device without too much trouble. It looks like you're able to represent everything the ASCII Sphere is doing--is that correct? If so, while the Orbotron boards won't be any use for you (th...

Re: Orbshield Problem
Haha! Yes sir, I am--and much has happened since you wrote last. The "buttons but not orb" is indeed a problem with supplying enough power, but I haven't seen it in a long while. The "approved solution" nowadays is to ditch the arduino/shield combo and try the shiny Orbotron 9000 :D I'm going to mak...

Re: Late to the party...
Hey, Whodda! Yeah, that's me (at least if it's http://www.thingotron.com). Unfortunately I'm out of the SMD prebuilt orbshields and I placed my order for new parts only to find that my supplier's out of the microprocessor until mid-june, so don't expect orb independence until maybe the 4 Jul holiday...

Re: Late to the party...
Hey, Ivor! Obviously I contacted you via email already, but I wanted to point out that there is both a "complete" version of the Orbotron (which comes ready-to-go as an SMD version) and there actually is a solderable kit. Since volume is pretty low, there are some periods in which I don't have any f...

Re: New run of orbshields
Rayz: Thanks! I'm well, just busy with a lot of other projects (among other things, an arduino-controlled preamp for no reason and a "refurb" kit for the old Thrustmaster FLCS/TQS after the FCS/WCS worked and I realized I still needed more buttons if I was going to try out some of the Freespace 2 mo...

Re: New run of orbshields
Rayz: I wrote the Waxbee author and while he doesn't have time to work on Orbotron integration, he did relate that it relies on the Teensy's half-K bootloader (as opposed to the 4k Leonardo bootloader). That probably means it'll work fine if it's hard-flashed (ie remove the "program over USB" mode a...

Re: New run of orbshields
Good stuff, gents! Sorry I'm not participating more; having a bit of a personal-life wallow and playing with some other projects. Finding time to consolidate the recent orb stuff has been slow. Rayz: Yep, I like the 4k+mouse combo, but the problem is I start running out of buttons! Even so it works ...

Re: New run of orbshields
Excellent that it works! And as for hard to control--yes, yes it is! It's definitely not trivial. I will say that it gets a lot better with practice, but it's also worth playing with the game controllers applet and configuration to see why it's difficult and if there are any tweaks that can help. Fo...

Re: New run of orbshields
Sorry for not seeing this until today--you did well getting everything up! There is some bad news: this is apparently a problem with the Leonardo (and thus the Orbotron, which is based on it) which affects a small fraction of people--which is why I hadn't heard of it until now. Were you able to inst...

Re: New run of orbshields
Well, the chording is in orbotron_translator.h ... the processing is handled in three stages and thus three files. Basically, orbotron_buffer.h handles processing from the orb and makes an internal model of what the physical orb is doing -- the buttons pressed, etc. So in orbotron_buffer.h, you'll f...
