Re: Updates coming

Well dang! Looks like I have more work to do. Really odd as it was working last week. Well, let me see what I can do today :( Edit: Looks like mail is failing, with a "DATA not accepted by server" error, but I'm not sure what's causing it (like I said, it worked earlier...). One problem may be that ...

Re: Updates coming

AxiomX-- sorry, there's a cross-site scripting error if you get to the store via store.thingotron.com ... I'll try to fix it when I get home. If I access the store by www.thingotron.com, it seems to work right. Sorry to give you the wrong url, and thanks for posting the trouble!

Re: Updates coming

Woops! I got a few orders last week so I assumed the store was working--you're right, it's most displeased! Hmm; getting ready for work but maybe I can fix it afterwards.

Re: Updates coming

DavidS-- Actually, down to the last few boards here, and the USB connectors are being SUPER flakey... actually, they vary based on the cable; I have one cable for which many of them drop out if you wiggle the connector, and another cable they all work well for. I have two more boards that seem fairl...

Updates coming

It's been some time for the Orbotron, and to my pleasure surprise it is still being of use to many. I have four more of the current run, but when they're gone, that's it for this version! What's coming is exciting but only moderately necessary, so if you're wanting to resurrect your orb, the old ver...

Re: New run of orbshields

PFunk--yes, fully assembled and ready to go (further customisation can be done afterward with some effort). I'm traveling until the 17th or so, but I can start mailing them out again next week.

Re: New run of orbshields

OK, got a certificate from StartSSL, installed it, redirected the server to not use those scary raw IP addresses, and it seems to be doing https just fine once you get to viewing a cart and checking out. Also verified the "contact us" page seems to send a mail to me. Whew! May be back in business; I...

Re: New run of orbshields

Oh, and I should admit that one thing it DOESN'T do is Xbox360 controller emulation, which actually can be a frustration since a fair number of modern games don't allow generic HID controllers now that the "master console gamepad race" has mostly taken over. Most 6dof games DO look for generic HID d...

Re: New run of orbshields

:) Since I based the based the Orbotron on the Arduino Leonardo firmware (it's pretty much just that with a new HID report and descriptors, and is all open-source too) it's fully programmable by an (older) version of the Arduino environment. And that means you can do all sorts of stuff... including,...

Re: Orbotron 9000

Doosh: REALLY sorry for the delay in responding! The Jaycrowe site was up and down and the traffic is so slow I forget to check it. I am Thingotron Labs, as it were. I'm really sorry the "contact us" isn't working! As you may have noticed from a couple other posts, the store has recently moved (alth...

Re: New run of orbshields

Well, some answers there: 1. They are still available! 2. OrbSHIELD was the first run; it was a device which did an "okay" job but used a "bit-banging" hack to sort of manually simulate a proper USB connection. As a result it was pretty finicky and some USB ports just wouldn't work well. As a result...

Re: New run of orbshields

Yes it is! I have a few more of the latest run and am actually considering an update (to support more controllers, really; it wouldn't add much for orb users). The shop is still online at http://www.thingotron.com though I just moved it so I haven't tested the ordering yet. It still works (have just...

Re: Sublevel 0 Works with Orbotron!

Huh, very odd on the buttons; they all worked for me out of the box. Glad they're working now... although I've heard stories that a recent patch introduced an unrecoverable roll with the orb--but I'm not experiencing it. Strange!

Sublevel 0 Works with Orbotron!

Just as another nod to "hey, someone else made a 6DOF game that works with the SpaceOrb", I just had a go with Sublevel 0 from Sigtrap games, and bless them if they didn't have controller mapping that worked out of the box. Well done Sigtrap! I haven't played the game much (just enough to die horrib...

Re: Late to the party...

Whodda, if you have to ask, get the SMD version :) It stands for "Surface Mount Device"--the sort of circuit boards you see everywhere. The other one is "PTH", or "Plated Through Hole" (which means the kind of components that have wires and go all the way through the board), and the reason it's $8 l...
