Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.

Thanks for the news Victor, sorry you’re having trouble with joystick reports. I wish I could help but I really don’t know how. Yea, the spam here is out of control and I am very surprised Jay hasn’t done something about it!! If this spam continues you might think about a messageboard on your site w...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.
I'm almost done with the next "revision" of the software (just updating with the fixes Ron and I have hammered out) and when that's done and the Magellan is added I may try and get a bit more publicity and see if more folks are interested--at the moment there are five of these adaptor...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.
I should have explained that a bit more. No, I changed the same axis on both--but in the orb sketch, in was a Spaceorb, so it went from {1,1,1,1,1,1} to {1,1,1,-1,1,1}, and in the Q4 sketch it was a 4k, so it went from {1,-1,-1,1,-1,-1} to {1,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1}; in both cases, the 4th nu...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.
Oh, hang on! That's actually good information. Whether I can do anything about it remains to be seen.
I'm glad my mouse screwing up was good information to you Victor. (Grin) What you said about the mouse updates piling on top of each other and the Arduino not having time to u...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.
Yeah, I'm not sure why the orb feels more "drifty" than the 4k--when it seems like the orb should be less drifty, since the 4k drops packets periodically. I'm still working that one out!
I played Q4 awhile tonight with a new Orb, after a short period of time the drifting was s...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.

Thank you Victor, your 4k sketch for Q4 is prefect!! I tried it both ways, 4k & mouse then just using the 4k. I don’t know why movement is so much smoother and the precision is outstanding using the 4k alone then the Orb? I still have a lot going on here but I need to check your WASD Sketch agai...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.

Sorry for the late reply Victor, I have a lot going on right now with my family. I can see you have been very busy, your documentation and graphics are Outstanding! Plus, the new Sketch and Translator file are a lot smoother in Q4. I checked out your sketch and translator file, I noticed the changes...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.

Thank you for the detailed info Victor. That really helps me a lot to understand have the games that don’t support joysticks works with axis. Sorry, I didn’t intend for you to play Q4 and write a sketch for the Orb to work in the game. I was trying to write it with hopes of getting more people inter...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.
I reread your earlier post--are you doing this via keyboard bindings entirely, IE Quake4 is not reading the orb as a joystick? If that's the case, what's happening is that you're just changing when the orb decides to mash the keyboard button, and you will always spin at the same rate ...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.

Thank you Victor for the Q4 file, I know you are busy and I do appreciate you taking the time to help with my sketch problems. I downloaded your Q4 file and I’ll test the file and reply to your post tomorrow night. I had a very long day, my dad isn’t doing very well and I’m going to spend sometime w...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.

I didn't expect to hear from you so soon Victor... Thank you for the Gain files! My testing of your new Gain Demo didn’t turn out well. I’ll explain what I did; I replaced the old Gain Demo with your new Demo in Arduino Sketches and did the same with the orb_tramslator.h file in the spaceorb librari...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.

Thank you Rob and Victor for explaining the axis values, I understand how the values are calculated now. I changed the values on the problem rotation axis many times trying to slow them down but the movement became jittery in the game. I also tried adding the sensitivity curve to the sketch, that di...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.

Victor, I’ve been working on a sketch for Quake4 (and hopefully for games that doesn’t have joystick support) using your keyboard axis and button binding demos as resources. I have 5 axis “() is the demo axis value” (I didn’t use YR (4) axis, the game doesn’t support lean left & right) and 6 but...

Re: Any SpaceOrb users still around?

Hi Tim, Thanks for your reply, sorry about being late with my reply to your post. I found it this morning as I was reading through old post on the messageboard. I hope you’re still interested in playing games with the Orb, Victor Putz has designed a device that converts serial gaming devices to USB ...

Re: The ultimate orb solution, at last.

Sorry Victor, I checked out the 5k test files with my 5k in the control panel applet and nothing worked, no axis or buttons. When I tried to calibrate the 5k and the raw date stayed at 512. I also tried the “test_Basic5k” with the Orbduino 0.9b2 spaceorb libraries file (I had to change the 5k test “...
