------------ SpaceOrb 360 Quake Beta TEN Patch -------------- ------------------------ beta beta beta ----------------------------- This software is still beta. Please use at your own risk. --------------------- TEN and Quake --------------------------- Background ---------- The TEN network has not yet added official support for external devices in their present client software. Until this support is added, the present TEN software does not provide the capability to pass command line parameters to a target game, as is required with the SpaceOrb 360. A formal solution to this issue is being worked on by TEN and Spacetec IMC Corporation. In the meantime, this PATCH program will allow a user to use their SpaceOrb 360 with Quake over the TEN network. Spacetec IMC Corporation is releasing this PATCH to provide an interim solution until TEN officially supports the SpaceOrb. To install this software, you should have some familiarity with DOS batch files, and with using a text editor to modify them. You should also be familiar with DOS directory structures. This PATCH, which copies, patches and renames the QUAKETEN.EXE file for use with the TEN Network, has been developed by a SpaceOrb 360 customer named John Raeford (aka Dutchman on TEN). Thank you for your time, energy and assistance John! Note : This PATCH program and its components are to be used ONLY when playing Quake over TEN with the SpaceOrb 360. Steps ----- 1. Download the TENQUAKE.EXE into your Quake directory. 2. Unzip the TENQUAKE.EXE by typing TENQUAKE.EXE in your Quake directory. This will uncompress several files, including TENQUAKE.BAT and QUAKESPW.BAT. 3. Run TENQUAKE.BAT from the Quake directory. This will configure Quake for TEN. NOTE : You MUST run TENQUAKE.BAT EVERY time you want to use the SpaceOrb 360 with Quake over TEN. 4. You will need to edit the QUAKESPW.BAT file to insure that the Quake and SpaceOrb directories are correct. The directories in the original QUAKESPW.BAT file that comes with the PATCH are the Default directories provided during SpaceWare installation. The QUAKESPW.BAT file looks as follows (w/ REM statements removed): call C:\spcware\spaceorb\orbload.bat c: CD c:\spcware\spaceorb\games spwquake.exe -sbconfig spwquake.scg -dir c:\spcware\quake -exe realquake.exe -noshow %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 To edit the file to match your directory structure : 1. Replace the C:\SPCWARE\SPACEORB entries (on lines 1 & 3), with the directory name where you installed the SpaceWare software. C:\SPCWARE\SPACEORB is the default directory. Remember to keep ORBLOAD.BAT command on line 1 when you modify the pathname. Also be sure to keep the \GAMES at the end of the directory entry on line 3. 2. Replace the C:\QUAKE entry (on line 4), with the directory name where Quake is installed. NOTE: ------ You MUST run TENQUAKE.BAT prior to loading TEN each time you want to run the SpaceOrb 360 with Quake over TEN. This also insures that Quake will run correctly from the DOS Game Launcher when not playing over TEN. When not running over TEN, run Quake from the DOS Game Launcher. Make sure that both the SpaceOrb DOS Game Launcher and TEN are NOT running at the same time in Windows 95.
