The file in this directory, ORBQUAKE.EXE, is a self-extracting ZIP archive file containing a patch to update to version 1.06 of Quake and to add the driver for the SpaceOrb 360. To install the software : 1) Download this file to your Quake directory, and type ORBQUAKE at your DOS prompt to uncompress the files. Answer yes to the overwrite prompts. 2) To set up the SpaceOrb button mapping for Quake, copy the uncompressed file, CONFIG.CFG, to the \QUAKE\ID1 directory. NOTE: To keep your existing button maps and setup, AND map the SpaceOrb 360 buttons, DO NOT copy over the CONFIG.CFG file. Instead, use the Customize Controls screen in Quake (under the Options Menu), choose the desired action by scrolling down and pressing ENTER, and then press the corresponding button on the SpaceOrb 360. Altenatively, use the BIND AUXn {Action} command at the console prompt, where AUXn represents buttons AUX1-AUX6 (A-F) on the SpaceOrb, and {Action} is Attack, Jump, Change Weapon etc. 3) Run PATCH.EXE. This will update your PAK0.PAK file to support the new version. Note: If you already have Quake 1.06 or higher, you do not need to run the PATCH.EXE program to upgrade Quake. 4) Run Quake with the SpaceOrb 360 from the DOS game Launcher: Note: Since Quake is a DOS based game, you need to make sure that you have installed the SpaceWare RealLife 3D Software for DOS. For the SpaceOrb 360 to run with Quake, you must have the SpaceOrb 360 DOS drivers loaded. These instructions assume that you have installed the SpaceOrb 360 software in the default directory. If not, you must edit QUAKE.BAT and change the appropriate directories. Also it is assumed the game Quake was installed in c:\games\quake. If your game is stored in a different location you must edit the file QUAKE.BAT and change the games directory appropriately. You must edit the file prior to copying it. 1. Copy spwquake.* c:\spcware\spaceorb\games\*.* 2. Copy quake.bat c:\spcware\spaceorb\games\*.* To add Quake to the SpaceOrb DOS game launcher menu, edit the file SPCWARE.CFG in the \SPCWARE\SPACEORB\SUPPORT directory, and add this line: Quake=C:\SPCWARE\SPACEORB\games\quake.bat. NOTE: If this line is the last line in the SPCWARE.CFG file, you must leave a blank line beneath it. After typing in the Quake line, press Enter to create that blank line. Running QLaunch for Windows 95: To enable TCP/IP support for Quake in Windows 95, open a DOS window, change to the Quake directory, and run the Q95.BAT file. If you have installed the SpaceOrb software in a directory other than the default \SPCWARE\SPACEORB, you must edit the file SPWBAT.BAT in the Quake directory, and change the path designations to specify the directory in which you have installed the software.
